Located right on the beach, the campground is just 20 minutes from Lorne and 35 minutes from Apollo Bay, making it an easy base for exploring the central Great Ocean Road while enjoying a quieter, more relaxed setting.
With 60 powered sites and 4 unpowered campsites, clean and accessible amenities, and convenient camp kitchen, laundry and BBQs, Wye River Beachfront Campground offers a cosy, low-key camping experience. As a small and popular campground, early bookings are recommended, especially during peak periods.
The campground is conveniently positioned opposite the Wye River General Store and café and within walking distance of the iconic Wye River Hotel, making it easy to pick up essentials or enjoy a relaxed meal without needing to drive.
For those looking to reconnect with nature, the area offers beautiful swimming and surfing beaches, Otway Forest walks, wildlife spotting, fishing, and excellent surf conditions. The Wye River Beach in front of the park is perfect for families and is patrolled during summer. My wife and I stopped here one night on our honeymoon, and we were delighted with the laid back atmosphere. The amenities were immaculate, and we were very pleased that the beach could be reached by a 30 second walk. There is a fair bit of bird life which really adds to the whole get-away experience. There is only one general store in Wye River, so come prepared not to be shopping.
A large park with modern amenities. Much better option than staying in Lorne or the smaller parks in the area which suffer from road noise. We woke one night with a koala in the tree over our van. The nearby coffee shop/cafe/store was a little beauty also.
Absolutely loved this place! Perfect spot to camp, right on the beach, could hear the waves from the tent, so relaxing and so close to Lorne for more fun activities. The site itself is powered and has all amenities to have a great time. We stayed for 5 days but could easily have stayed for a few weeks at least.
Choose to relax, play or explore, it's up to you. Our small, beachside park makes for a memorable stay.
