Kennett River Family Caravan Park is located in the small seaside town of Kennett River, on the Great Ocean Road. Situated near the popular resort town of Lorne, Kennett River offers visitors a chance to immerse themselves in the scenic nature of the Otway Coast, and what better way to start than taking in the beautiful surroundings from one of the many nearby viewpoints!
We’ve compiled a list of our favourite lookouts and viewpoints near Kennett River, all of which can be reached in under one hours drive from the park.
Cape Patton Lookout (∼5km from the park)
Located just over 5km away from the park, Cape Patton Lookout can be reached within less than a 10 minutes drive, making it the most easily accessible of all the lookout points on this list. Sitting at ∼80m above sea level, this lookout offers picturesque views of the rugged coastline stretching up towards Apollo Bay, as well as spectacular views of the lush, green interior of the Victorian hinterland.
Mount Defiance Lookout (∼13km from the park)
Located in nearby Separation Creek, the Mount Defiance Lookout can be reached by a quick 15 minute scenic drive along the coast. Sitting at ∼107m above sea level, this lookout is the perfect spot to take in nature at its best and marvel at the sight where the crashing waves of the ocean meet the rugged cliffs of the coastline.
Teddy’s Lookout (∼22km from the park)
Located in the nearby town of Lorne, Teddy’s Lookout can be reached within a 30 minutes drive from the park. Situated at the point where the Saint George River drains into a small cove in the Bass Strait, this popular viewing platform is part of the Lorne-Queenscliff Coastal Reserve and offers some of the best views that the Victorian coastline has to offer.
Marriners Lookout (∼23km from the park)
Located in the nearby picturesque village of Apollo Bay Village, Marriners Lookout can be reached within a 30 minute drive from the park. Once you reach the car park, it's only a further 5 -10 minute hike to the top, where you’ll find breathtaking panoramic views of Apollo Bay Village and the surrounding ocean (also don’t forget to look out for paragliders, who often take off from this point!)
These are just a few of the viewpoints worth visiting near Kennett River, but if you’re happy to drive a bit further out, there are many more stunning lookouts on offer along the Great Ocean Road, including the famous Twelve Apostles (∼110 minutes drive from the park) and historic Cape Otway Lightstation, located in the Great Otway National Park (∼60 minutes drive from the park) amongst many, many more!
